Arts Integration is an approach to teaching

These teaching ideas are teacher-tested with real kids in real classrooms. They are fun, practical, and easy to prepare. You'll find ideas for using children's books to teach the comprehension strategies. Each idea will list the focus reading strategy and the integrated art modality.

Making connections, visualizing, inferring, asking questions, determining importance, synthesizing
Why use the arts to teach reading?
The arts enhance the process of learning. The arts develop creative and critical thinking skills. The arts involve the multiple intelligences—linguistic, spatial, kinesthetic, logical-mathematical, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. The arts help you reach children with special needs. The arts are FUN!
